"Chakra Ascension" Series by Paul Micarelli

In 2003, I created seven 3D images that I intended to be a series.

 Image Gallery:
by Paul Micarelli

The images show a solitary, meditating figure in different environments. Each setting corresponds to the ancient metaphysical energy system within the body, known as "chakras".

I am not a skilled chakra meditation practitioner, so I approached this as a metaphorical work of art. I've finally decided to post the "Chakra Ascension" series, for other people to contemplate.

Now that I've posted all the individual entries, this is a recap of the entire series.

*In addition, I've made the series into a free e-book, in PDF format, that anyone can download:

"Seed of Life: Ascension" by Paul Micarelli

I created a series of 3D images featuring the pattern of circles known as the "Seed of Life".

They were already uploaded to my album of 3D Art & posted here individually, but I wanted to also show them as a group.

When I made them, I didn't really intend to make a series.

However, when the pictures are placed in order- it looks like the mysterious geometric form is emerging from the primordial waters, rising through the blue sky, and into the cosmos.

Once in the vast expanse of space, it's crystalline shell retracts & reveals the clear light of infinite consciousness.

AC: Artificial Creativity

I have been tinkering with A.I. generated art, using Stable Diffusion software. I am simultaneously amazed & disturbed by the novel imagery that computers are now able to create. As an artist & graphic designer, the A.I. phenomenon makes me feel like a carriage maker at the onset of automobile manufacturing.

The software I'm using is relatively basic, but it can still produce really cool art (as well as hilariously bad formulations). I actually give the software top billing on my posts, because all I'm doing is entering prompts. Yes it's a tool just like Photoshop, but the computer & code creating the imagery is almost spooky and makes you examine the nature of consciousness itself. What we understand to be consciousness or mind is an emergent cascade of phenomena, as is machine learning. However, the ability to explain the system doesn't make it any less mysterious.

The endless amounts of objectively fantastic artwork flooding social media now is just mind-boggling. Just like the Internet itself, there is no way to understand exactly where this technology is going to take society.

I have started social media pages for the A.I. art that I'm collaborating with the machines to produce. If you're reading this, I would greatly appreciate it if you check them out & follow:

There are so many questions & issues that arise from this technology...

• What does it mean for the human artist & creator?

• Will A.I. art be required to be detected & distinguished from human art, in certain circumstances? Or will that prove impossible, and proof of process will be required to verify human-made art if desired.

• Are we entering a "post-reality" reality, where we trust absolutely nothing, and objective truth no longer exists in the digital realm?

...It's all so crazy... what the hell is happening? We'll just have to buckle in & find out!

Here are some articles I've read recently about the topic as I try to wrap my head around it all:

Really Means for Human Creativity

These are some of the images I've prompted that have really blown me away, but there's so much more to come:

"Mindscapes" by Paul Micarelli - Artist Reception

This past week, I had the honor of hosting an artist reception for my very first solo exhibit, at the Williamstown Grand Theatre gallery.

"Mindscapes" Art Exhibit by Paul Micarelli

I put together a collection of digital art, traditional media, sculpture, photography, and made a version of the board game I created, "Da Vinci's Challenge," just for the show.

The reception was great and I was humbled to be able to experience it. My family and friends came out to see my work, support me, and enjoy food & drinks.

It was awesome to seem my name in lights on the theater marquee, and it was very fulfilling to have both my parents be able to share it with me, as well as my siblings and other people I care about.

My wife Loretta is my biggest supporter, and I've some of the wonderful people who were there I've met through her. She has brought so much into my life, and I feel like we push each other to new heights all the time. Every day I meditate and give thanks for her and all the blessings in my life, as well as the strength & wisdom to overcome the challenges that inevitably arise.

Here is a photo gallery from the event:

I've uploaded a lot of my art to my website, under "Fine Art", with a link to buy prints: www.PaulMicarelliDesign.comwww.paulmicarellidesign.com

Everyone was intrigued by this mixed-media sculpture & it became known as "Techno Monkey"

"Sanctuary / Matrix Meditation" by Paul Micarelli

I've been adding images to my online album of 3D art.

This is a scene that is kind of my idealized tranquil space- a minimal, secluded area with a Zen feel to it & opening to nature:

After I made the original image, I decided that it was all an illusion- the "Sanctuary" exists only as computer code, pure information & light:

I made these images many years ago, but I recently made a looping animated GIF with these scenes. I wanted to make it look like there is "a glitch in The Matrix".

Who is the hidden avatar, meditating in the virtual realm?...

"Cosmic Seed of Life" by Paul Micarelli

This is the final pair of a series that I created, depicting a 3D version of the sacred geometry symbol, known as the "Seed of Life".

It is the core of the larger pattern of interlocking circles, "The Flower of Life".

The Seed of Life, a vehicle of knowledge, has traveled the beyond the planet among the stars.

It's protective shell has opened to reveal it's true nature- the clear white light that is the source of Creation.

"A Night at Sea" by Paul Micarelli

I've added another image to my gallery of 3D art that I've been posting online:

A team of glowing ships silently hover over the deep ocean toward their base- a bioluminescent colony, floating on the waters of an unknown world...

"Alien Lab" by Paul Micarelli

I've added another image to my online album of 3D art.

This one shows an alien clone suspended within a vat, inside a futuristic lab.
Is it aboard a spaceship? Is it on another planet? Is it deep underground, beneath a military base here on Earth?... It remains a mystery, like the alien enigma itself.

"One Way Out" by Paul Micarelli

I've added another image to my gallery of 3D art that I've been posting online:

This is unsettling image of someone in a tranquil, yet desolate, limbo of endless white space.

He is forever stuck in this featureless purgatory- looking up at the only way out, which is impossible to reach.

"Mindscapes" Art Exhibit by Paul Micarelli

I am excited to announce my first solo art exhibit, on display now at The Grand Theater in Williamstown, NJ, until April 13, 2019.

Here is the Facebook event page for the artist reception, on Wed. March 27, 2019 from 7-10pm:

Although my profession is a graphic artist, through Paul Micarelli Design, I also create fine art that I have frequently shared on this blog.

The exhibit features prints of my digital artwork, fractal designs, photography, mixed media sculpture, traditional fine art, and a custom-made Da Vinci's Challenge board game that I created.

If you live in the area, I would be happy to see you at the reception. Below are some examples of the art that will be in the show:
